Which steer orbital to use?

The only way to really find out if either of them work is to hook them up and try. You may not find anything based on those numbers, they may be specific to a certain brand (cat, hyster, etc), and not be listed with any type of specs.

I'll look tomorrow when I get to work, I think I still have the decoder sheet for eaton/char-lynn.

surplus center list many different part#'s and there cubic displacement per turn. fing out the displacement of the ram and divide it by the orbitals displacement per turn. that gets the revolutions lock to lock. i would say something in the 5 to 6 cu. in per turn range

Open center
non reactive
4.5 cu in/rev
Series 4 with Power Beyond
Should have five ports--if you choose to use it as a standard hydro steer valve with only front steer and no power beyond, you'll probably end up with effectively two return ports on the valve.
Also, it has small ports (SAE 6), is rated 4 gpm flow, and 1800psi maximum system pressure.

Ok, well the time has come, I need to make a decision on one of these orbitals or I need to order one. The one is not load reactive (5 port one) based on what Ben says. Not sure on the other one. Will a non load reactive drive really differently (erratically)? Or would it just be as simple as getting used to it not returning to center?

Thanks

Just as simple as not returning to center.

I had totaly forgotten about this. I'll look for the decoder in the morning, sorry

Just sent this info to my charlynn vendor. I'll have them both decoded shortly.

Sorry for the delay

Here is one of the decoder sheets. Gimme your email & I'll send you the other.

Couldn't get any info on the other orbital, it must be proprietary.
