I have made up my mind what kind, just not what size.
Here's what I have.
One ton's Dana 60 front, 14 bolt rear.
4:56 gears, T-176 Dana 300 with 4:1 Tera lows.
Detroit's both ends.
Dana 60 is still 30 spline outers. Looking to upgrade when I run out of spares to 35 spline and flanges.
Currently running 39.5 boggers. I have broke one 30 spline outer in 4 years.

Now my dilemma:

42 TSL Super Swamper's, because I like the narrower tire.
44 TSL Super Swamper's because I want the height.

Not an immediate decision, but I do want to go bigger sometime this spring/summer.

$42/tire

The real question: Would you pay $168 for 2 extra inches?

Well, :D thats not much more than the cost of a body lift, and alot cheaper than a suspension lift. I'd have to say most people would pay $168 for 2 inches of lift that raises the axle clearence.

Chip if'n ya got room for the 44's go that route. Get what you want the first time and you will be happier. KC

$168 for two inches, ohhh yeah, oh, you mean the tires:lol:

Draging the 14bolt aka plow, yeah, $168 is cheap and often needed and wanted.

OK just went to Interco's site, the 39.5 bogger that I run now, is actually a little wider than the 44 TSL, sooooo I think 44's it will be.
Width hasn't really been a problem with what I have now.

Yep, 44s, I miss the width of the 44x18 TSL now that I have the 42x15s, wish I'd gone the other way in retrospect.

Wow, you're the first I've heard say that... usually when guys go to the narrower tires, they report back happy.

Two schools of thought here. I have heard narrower gives more pounds per square inch, = better traction, and I have heard wider, bigger footprint, more area for traction. The width of my boggers never bothered me. but, the side traction defiantly wasn't there. So with the 44's I will be same width, with more clearance. Clearance is an issue when you are 118" wheel base

what's the ACTUAL height difference between the 42's and 44's?? i've yet to see any swamper brand tire measure close to what's printed on its sidewall..

chip, just shave that 14b, and go with a set of red-label Krawlers...

My point was just that if you have a tire that is exactly 42" and another that is 44", you will only get 1" of lift from the 44 over the 42. That's all.

Understood Jared. But if you have ever drug a 14 bolt around, and that is what you do, you would understand that 1" is a lot, in that respect.

52xml

OR 54"Bogger...beat Ricky to it...

I am curious, anyone know the weight of a TSL 44 Swamper? and the weight pf a 39.5 Bogger?
chip, you should tow your rig to my place and we can bolt my 44's on and you can see for sure then. or go with me to tellico at the end of the month and we can bolt them up at camp.
