im sure this has been covered. but im trying to decide which one to use. I have a d 300 and a np205. going to be behind a 350 turbo. pros ? cons?

D300 for sure.

since you are using a 350, I'm going to assume you aren't pushing out 800+hp...

The D300 is easily adaptable to the 350, is small and compact, light (relative), strong, has good aftermarket support, and is affordable and readily available. Its easier to pack under a rig than a 205.

you can find them in decent shape for $200. find a stock circular pattern adapter from a 700r4 for like $40 and a $125 spud shaft from AA, and the D300 mates up to the 350 easily. output shafts are weak but have been known to hold up fairly well, it really depends on what power and tires you are running, etc. 32 spline upgrades are easy to install and affordable.

resale on a d300 is better, IMO and even better if its been upgraded and in decent shape

Im looking into same setup in my zj and the d300 is by far the best for the buck that i can find, not to mention it works with alot of diff setups and their tough!

Something else to consider:
Stock NP205 is 1.96:1 low range, D300 is 2.62:1.
Aftermarket offers 3:1 NP205 gears and 4:1 D300 gears.

thanx for the info. i wanted to know the opinions before i mentioned that i have a 4 to 1 kit for my d300. the case was going to go behind an ax5 . so the p.o. ordered the 4 to 1 kit with a 21 spline input. i was checking things out yest. looks most bearings came with the kit. but not the ones for the intermediate shaft. so far i only see those with a complete rebuild kit. i expect to be running 300 to 400 hp. so im thinking of going ahead and replacing the outputs whilen the case is apart. also wondering if i should change the input
