Come on.... this is Turkey we are talking about..... ever see Midnight Express? Not exactly the poster child for honest government and law enforcement. They make the U.S. look like the Vatican.

Yup, that's been my take on it from the beginning.
Way to perfectly taken down, too shoddily arranged, and more importantly - in only 4 days how do you already know which 21,000 people were involved?
Clearly there was already a list of "who has to go" w/ a purge plan in place.
I firmly believe it was a staged power grab.

Sure. But they are worlds ahead of anything else in M.E. and if we lose our base there, it seriously weakens our position.

Sadly there are probably better minds in there now than there would be in the next administration......
 
I'm not as well versed in global politics as some of you are, but I told my wife, as all this has unfolded on tv. That something did not sit right with me, it just seemed to happen and end to "neatly" and "looked staged". Some of these threads I just read daily to learn from the more educated folks on here, to educate myself more. This will be one of them.....

So as I understand the basics. Turkey we helped along time ago to remain a democratic friend. At some point we dumped them their ass. They now are subjected to infighting and the Islamic issues. And now big brother Russia is online to pick up the pieces and help structure a key position in friendship and power in the middle east . A place we have zero respect and have Damn near stranded our best counterpart being Isreal.
