Headed out to the white water training center with a group of Boy Scouts. Pretty excited about it other than being dead beat tired the night before. Never been and I understand they got lots of stuff to do. Any parts I shouldn't really miss??? We all payed for the all activity pass (kinda pricey I thought for a group of Boy Scouts).

Take your wallet!:D
But its a great place. I've mostly drank beer and watched but still very cool place.

definitely post up how it goes. My boy's troop is going down there Sept 14/15 so I'm wondering what he should expect. Not sure what all they are slated to do, but I heard the cost was around $100 for each scout. They're hitting the NASCAR museum on Sat and then the white water center Sunday morning I guess. Camping for lodging so not sure how those funds break down but that's one of the more expensive weekenders he's had.

Our scouts went in july and had a blast...just did a day trip.

Couple of years ago they went...somebody had an 'in' at Hendricks motorsports and they got.a full backstage tour of the shops. They were impressed at the number of Eagle scouts on staff there.

Our Scouts and adults paid 48 bucks for the All Sport Pass. It includes all the activities unless you want to upgrade to a rodeo raft or kayak or full suspension bike. Food is EXSPENSIVE. I totally do not approve of the non outside food deal. I could see it if they were trying to control adult beverage intake, butt they serve beer freely. Kinda bummed for that, only because it is served pretty much as soon as the place opens up all day long. Plan on 10 bucks for anything drink and a side from the deli. The restaurant was good from what I heard but I wasn't willing to kill 45 minutes of my day to wait for a table. Grabbing my food and eating right beside the rapids was way cooler for me. Get their early and pre-PAY. You get a bracelet and as short a briefing as you want and your off. Its pretty much self guided choose and go. I recommend a late raft time (partly to cool off and partly due to most of the people pouring in and clogging up the activities). Your rafting time is clock work and should expect no delays. Some of the canopy tour zip line stuff can run long depending on who's on the line in front of you. Do those early! We did the biggest zip line and free fall first thing. Worked out great since this area had you waiting in the sun the most. We then mt biked for a bit. You get 2hrs or so on the pass. We hammered the beginner trail and then did an intermediate route. Intermediate is definatley not a place to take less active out of shape participants. The terrain was more technical yes and the climbs were harder but the change from their beginners course was quite a step. We didn't have issues other than running short on water but its not the place to take the wife or mother in law who doesn't get out much! Did see some bloody carnage walking down the side walk at one point (she was moving and fiercely upset but the blood was flowing)! WATER WATER WATER, for a water oriented park drinking water is in short supply. Out in the woods on the ropes courses or obstacles and mt bike trails none is to be found!!! Not even a creek. We bought drinks and wore out a fountain at the main complex refilling them all day. I was inclined to use my camel back but all the climbing activities required a harness and the instructors want allow you to wear both. I really recommend someone as a water mule. All of our adults participated so this wasn't feasible. I dehydrate and sweet profusely so this may not be as big an issue to some. Other than that if I had consecutive days to burn I'd do an all water day one and the land activity another. Maybe even mt biking on a third. BTW you can pay the parking fee and walk, run, or mt bike the whole place for free(provided you supply the bike). If you get every obstacle and activity in during the day your an iron man for sure. I missed quite a bit since a storm came up and they stopped all park activities with a horn blast. Which is good for a last point. Watch the weather. I got caught 40 feet up in an obstacle in the pouring rain, with blasted worn out muscles, hanging onto 1/2 rope, keeping my shoes from slipping off wire rope that wanted dearly too castrate me if I slipped(or at least in my mind) all the while lightening peppered the area. I was having a blast!!
