Took the kids to a local park and the NC 13th was camping out for their first meet of the year. Glad it warmed up a bit.

here I is!!! Look like something that you might be interrested in trying? Don't know anybody in the 13th. How many folks they have out there?

It looked like about 20 folks though I was there after the drills and such so may have been more earlier. Dinner was almost ready and looked darn good. Chicken pot pie, collard greens, cobbler all cooking on the fire.
I'd try it if I thought I had time for another hobby. I can't get to half of them now.... I would like to see a larger event some time.

well,we are going to be at Latta Plantation the first weekend in June. Come on out and hang out with us.

^ when you hit Latta, contact me and lets me up

it can still be hot that early in Sept. We'll just do the best we can. You know, come to think about it,how do you know they are killer in this heat? You haven't experienced the wearing of the wool yet you talk like there might be some interrest. What size shoes you wear? Got 2 opposing teefs?

I find it fascinating and think a lot of it would be fun (learning the history, the camping, etc.). I'm trying to cut down on hobbies though to actually have time to do one.

hey jimmy...is there a website or somewhere with a list of events?

ive been meaning to get to one of these for about a year and half now.

The events are pretty cool. We've been to a few between Fredericksburg, VA and Ft Macon. The kids love it even though they aren't quite old enough to understand it just yet.

took my kid to the july 4th festival at bethabara park, they had a few reinactors there doing firing drills. she loved it. all the smoke and loud bangs.

we ARE the federal army at this event so if anybody goes, holler out for Ordnance Sgt. Jones and somebody will point you in my direction.

man,it was toooo freakin hot out there this weekend. Got de swampass bad. You see Georgeville's 2 brush trucks? Man,M37 Dodges with 4bt cummins engines. They were nice.
Did you try to find me after the event?

Those trucks were sweet! Even my wife thought they were cool and it takes a lot for her to notice vehicles.
I tried to catch you before the battle. I asked a couple of your blue brethren if they knew you but didn't have any luck. The kids were getting whiny and ready to get out of the sun towards the end so we took of. Can't believe there wasn't more heatstroke going on. I'll bet those uniforms were pretty ripe towards the end of the weekend.

mine was stanky fo sho. There was a company of grey backs that sweated the blue saturday and that might have been who you talked to. Should have walked up the hill and hollered out.
Now,in november we will be doing a living history weekend at Old Salem. Looks like it will be a full weekend there with not just us but other reenactors from other periods in force. Might be a good COOL event to check out.
