Yesterday I found myself at advance auto parts buying windshield wipers for all 4 vehicles in my yard.
[for any keeping score that is 01 yukon,86 k5, 65 mustang, 03 grandprix]

Who the hell knew that rubber, silicon and teflon have all been replaced by gold as the material of choice for wiper blades?

Seems this AA was conveniently out of all the off brand blades, and the CHEAPEST thing on the shelf were $12 A BLADE...

Now admitedly being lazy I generally let the guy who does our oil changes replace the baldes when it is time, and havent bought wipers in a couple years. But half the ones they had on the shelf were $20/ each!!!

WTF
when did this happen
I bought 9 wiper blades and dropped over $100 !

So let me get this straight. We can now build a PC that is profitable to sell for $200 but we couldnt possibly build 18 wiper blades for the same price!!!
Come On

Ok I feel better now. I will stop crying.

Yes, this is retardulous. I went looking for some 13" blades for my jeep the other day, and guess what, 4 or 5 brands and over 10 different 'styles', but NOTHING in 13". I went to Pep Boys and found almost the same situation. They had 1 left in the $15 style. It didn't work any better than the $6 one that was still on the jeep.

Hehe! I thought I was the only one who said "retardulous"! Oh well...back to the topic at hand.

It seems like the blade manufacturers make a cheap line of blades that wouldn't wipe spit off of teflon, just so they can say "you get what you pay for" and sell you a $20 blade. Of all the things I hate maintaining on a car, blades have to be the worst. I'm always disappointed when I get the new ones on.

I use Rain-X. For the $10 bottle... haven't replaced a wiper blade in years....

Of course it dosn't exactly work as a replacement on an off-road vehicle, not like it'll make mud bead up and fall off, lol.

Just replaced the blades on my DD Camry...

While getting ready to assume the position at WallyWorld (my experiences have been similar to yours! :shaking: )...

I realized they only had the full replacements (not just the blades, but the entire wiper assy.), but the grand total for both was less than $6!

Buy just the refills. They are usually around $10 a pair.

For mine, I just buy 1 22" refill and make 2 11" ones for my Commando.
