Saturday, wife and I are driving up 421 towards G'boro thru the new 4 lane project. Work crew is blowing straw and spraying the tar stuff.

Now her white toyota has tiny black specks of tar (or whatever the black mix is) all over the roof, front end, front glass and mirrors.

Is there a way to get the DOT to pay the cleanup? I ain't got time to clean and re-wax it. Anybody dealt with something like this before?

There official answer is probably gonna sound something like this " you were given plenty of warning in advance of the up coming road work. You had the opertunity to plan and altenate route. We suggest you do so next time". But...if you really wanna try it....find out what company was doing the work. hassle them long enough and see if they give in.

I work for the DOT, and all I can say is good luck, I wouldn't expect much.

Might just have to call it even, considering the speedlimit signs that.... ahem, I mean my floorboards.

I wouldnt count on that.
my grandad got yellow overspray on his truck from a line crew, and he called and just asked what theey would do about it.
They told him where to take it and they would detail it.
When he went back to pick it up, the guy said "Wont come outt they gonna have to paint your truck, I already talked to whoever, and he said call him tomorrow, sure enough they painted his whoee damn 20 year old truck...
