Who remembers these

high rock. man that place used to get crazy. i remember 3 wheelers skimming all the way across the cove. that was a sight.
 
In high school....87-91 had 75 model Chevy truck on 35s with Eagle lights (4) mounted on DOUBLE tube Grizzly rollbar, Gumbo mudders from Galloways and wheeled at the sandpits over by the landfill in Johnston County and Handy Andy Clay pit around Selma. Also the truck Had THRUSH glasspacks with Hooker hedders....You could hear me coming. Great for a teenage country boy:Rockon:
 
I saw a guy and a girl in a rail buggie get hit by a train at the swink plant, also had to carry a guy out to the waiting ambulance in the back of my buddies truck one day. also wheeled at stokes ferry part of high rock loved when George brought MR. Mud down.also southmont, hum dinger and behind Wal Mart.
 
The High Point/Greensboro guys may remember the pipeline trails off Wiley Davis road and widowmaker behind GTCC. I met the guy that owned that property the other day. He laughed when I told him how many times he ran us off in the late 70's and early 80's. I remember a trail at URE in the early 80's that would put you out on the river at the base of a dam. Anybody else remember that? Also we used to go down to Bragg and wheel in the sand dunes at the drop zones on the So. pines side of the base. Man, where did the time go...

back when muddin was cool, you could find me at widowmaker. That hillclimb was badass :lol:
 
I had a 63 model Ford pick-em-up back in 84/85 with a 223 six and 3 speed on the column.Put semi slick 33 BFG mudterrains on the back and 11x15 float trac RVs on the front with white waggy wheels.Hauled ass up and down sandy power line trails all day with that.Installed a straight pipe thrush muffle(bought at Kmart) under the cab and that was where the exhaust ended.Man that thing would kill your ears on trips down to Sunset Beach.Ugliest truck I ever owned and now I'm missing it bad.

Old cc road was great,and the saw dust piles, I remember nc105 was fun with plenty of side roads and before black bear was paved

Yeah it was Falls Dam trail much changed from its current sad state. Its a shame that they don't open and reopen some the old trails at Uwharrie.

High Rock wildlife four wheeled there from 83 till about 96 I beleive is when they shut us down. The fun that could be had on a sunday was priceless, man I miss those days in my Yota!! All of the brands posted above were represented there.Hello to all that were there back then!
 
Remeber when you could get the fire dept to rinse your tires off at Stokes Ferry so the highway patrol wouldnt give you a ticket for mud on the road?

anyone in winston wheeled "hanes mall"? i think if you did it today you would be driving through a steak house!
 
I know most of you are from the western part of the state,but did any of you ever ride the dunes at radio island in morehead city before they shut it down?
 
I'm liking this thread. I've only been wheeling for a couple years but I'm still having fun at spots that not everybody goes to (but that I have permission to use). Some creek rides (can I say that on the internet?) and some nice logging trails.

ive wheeled some logging trails in salisbury and one in wilksboro. it's fine if you have owners permission, even better when the owner is with you!

logging trails are fun when its wet. makes some of the climbs reallllly interesting.

I do not recall the name of the trail but it began off of Cotton Place below where the gates are across the road after you pass the parking area for Daniel. There was a nice hill climb there. Too many folks with heavy right feet made a huge ass of the area down by the river there though. Goldmine was a lot of fun in a stock '91 Ranger with 30" tires. The stair step hill climb there was a hoot with just a little rain.

i was out there all the time. i remember a brand new k5 rolling down the hill one night. ever see some nut out there in a suburu brat?:huggy: the trail to the river at ure,you can still get too but not legally. i may have ventured back the on the atv a once.lol and i remember the sand at bragg as well. that was dirt bike days. i noticed the other day that the widiw maker is still there. and is still used from the looks of it.

Does the 'widowmaker' you guys are talking about have a creek crossing? I've heard my dad's friend from g-boro talk about that area before... one always talks about breaking a c-clip axle in the creek, strapping his rear bumper to the bumper of a larger truck, and being drug out backwards.
 
yea. its right before up go up the hill.the creek wasnt much though. my lil brat never had trouble there. at one time there were alot of trails out there. just the straight shot up the powerlines it looks now though.theres a road where a lot of it was.
 
Off subject but talking about fun times and places we have almost forgotten about made me think of a crazy story..About 12 years ago one of my friend's that worked at toyota of concord test drove a new toyota PRERUNNER pickup behind the old walmart in concord to see how the 4wd worked....notice the word prerunner, needless to say he called me to pull him out and help him clean it up before he took it back to the dealership. Well weeks later he got fired when they found mudd all under the hood....
 
What about poole rd in raleigh, I started riding dirt bikes out there probably 15 yrs ago. From what I can see now, it is covered by the 64 bypass.
