What kind of brainiac marketing executive decided to name a food company Soylent? Do they not watch movies? So they named an obscure looking food bar Soylent and then wonder why Soylent Is Telling Customers to Throw Away Its Food Bars

Perhaps:

In case you didn't see the movie, either.... it's from Soylent Green. I highly recommend it to all fellow tinfoil hat wearing individuals.

The company name Soylent was taken directly from that movie. The owner/founder of Soylent thought it was funny. if you look on youtube there is a documentary on Soylent that Vice did a few years ago that talks about the founding of the company and where the name came from. not an accident

Then I'd definitely be throwing them away! :)

When this first came out one of my coworkers bought a bunch to keep at work. Keep in mind we're a bunch of nerds who work all the time and often find stopping for lunch to be a nuisance. Which, actually, was how this was devised... a couple workaholics that wanted something gto eliminate the time loss of making food...
Stuff tastes like crap and I can't take the texture. Gastro problems aside, it may be a complete meal replacement but I'd rather just eat a damn sandwich.
After a couple of months the packets have been mostly just sitting.
