I know I'm beating a dead horse but whose happiest with there Detroit or auburn or whatever Limited Slip Differential?
My jeep sees less and less pavement and more trails theses days but don't want to spend the big $$$ on arb.

I'm kind of confused by the use of your terminology...limited slip locker.
A limited slip diff will provide a little extra traction offroad, but it will slip when you really don't want it to. That is when you need a locker.
I'm was very happy with the No Slip locker in my CJ (AMC20 rear axle), so I put one in my DD XJ (C8.25). The 8.25 No Slip is not as smooth as the one in my AMC20, dunno why.
If you are looking at locking the TJ in your avatar, I would hope you don't have a D35 rear. For trail use only, the most I'd do to the D35 is weld it up and look out for a suitable replacement rearend. The D35 will break.
On the front D30 (or 44), just drop a lock-rite in.

I think tilly is talking about the limited slips that have the ability to lock up like the Auburn Ected or the Detroit E-Locker. I'm pretty sure his jeep does have the 44 rear.

Yea Dana 44 Mosser Engineering shafts

My bad on my terminology but I'm looking at the LSD from Auburn and Detroit (not the electric ones). The factory LSD in my d44 aint worth a politicians promise but looking at keeping it somewhat streetable.

I only drive the TJ to the trail and back and maybe on a pretty day so streetability is a concern but not the priority.

Are the LSD's from detroit and auburn worth a crap... which one locks better offroad?

Oh and tony feel free to change my title to limited slip differential. it won't let me edit titles.

If you drive it that little on the road, I'd just get a Detroit or Lock Right.

X2 but I've heard some decent reviews about the Detroit Trutrac which I've actually considered (Trutrac rear Aussie front)

I have Aussie lockers front and rear in my rig and don't have any complaints

yeah, if the TJ sees very limited street time, go with a full locker, plenty of people, myself included DD fully locked Jeeps. I've heard of the Lock-rite being quirky and noisy in the rear, that is why I went with the NoSlip on my DD CJ. I liked it so much, when I parked the CJ and moved on to DD'ing the wife's old XJ, I found a NoSlip.

LOCKER....I have a LOCKright in the rear of my Toyota that sees more road than off road these days. I only notice it if i'm making a tight turn like in a parking lot at slow speeds. Best investment I ever made.

If you pull the parking brake just slightly the diff won't know that the wheel is in the air.

That's assuming the e brake works lol. Disk brake conversion is also on the list. I won't mind a chirp here and there on the road. My Aussie up front I can't tell is in there just wanted to make sure the proper diff choice for the rear.

Thanks everyone... Chris we'll talk soon.

Agreed. I've got a Grizzly in my dana 44 rear and I love it. Locks up way better offroad than a LSD and is just fine on the street. A full case locker behaves much better on the road than a lunchbox does, in my experience. After a few weeks of getting used to it, I don't even notice it, and I drive my TJ on the road a lot. I wouldn't change it for anything, including a selectable locker.

I had a detroit tru-trac (limited slip) in the back of my jeep and loved it. You couldnt tell it was there on the road, and as long as i was able to stay on the gas, it never slipped off-road. It did most everything I wanted to do at uwharrie in 2wd, in the rain. I had a lock-rite up front, and when in 4wd it did everything I wanted it to do... but, i am not as hardcore as some on here.
