when i crank up my 95 zj with 4.0 theres a squeling sound. almost sounds like the belt but its not, almost think its coming from the a/c condencer, when i rev it up it cuts out but then starts again and its gettin worse, drivin around today it was doing it untill i hit it hard then it died mostly but it still has a slight noice almost sounds like its grinding somewhere. have no idea what the problem is here, any help i was appriciate it.

thanks in advance

I don't know if it's a common thing or not, but I've seen two zj's eat water pumps. Does the noice change when you turn the ac on and off? Novacayne's suggestion is a good one, but also...how do you know it's not the belt?

a/c bearing mine done same thing and check waterpump as well if that dont fix it!!! i just repacked the bearing and its been working fine for 3 yrs now! lol

im going to take my belt off tomorrow and spin the bearings like novacayne75 said and see if i cant find the problem and also with doing that i will make sure the belt is tight. my waterpump is less then a year old and i just changed the belt a few months ago. but the noise is deffinitly coming from the a/c compressor so the a/c bearing sounds like it would be the problem. thanks guys ill let yall know how its goes

water pumps on the 4.0's are notorious for going out. and its also notorious for the belt to squeel with the ac on. ive seen it on alot of jeeps. my own too. just gotta tighten up the belt a little and be sure you use a good quality belt. belt dressing never hurt either. i use a old bar of soap. works great for me
