My wife got a speeding ticket for 9 over in Greensboro. She has a clean record thus far, so I am hopeful a lawyer can get it dismissed. Anyone recommend a lawyer in Greensboro to take care of this?

For a 9 over, correct me if I'm wrong, but that doesn't go on her record. Just pay it and forget about it. A 9 over ticket is just a quick way to make some tax money.

From what I understand it will not go on her license, but it will go on our insurance, so I am trying to get it dismissed so no points on anything.

Ask your insurer.. Some will not raise rates for one minor incident in 3 years.. My nationwide policy is like this.

It is on your "record" either way. It just may not carry any driving points w/ the DMV (not sure, it may be 1). Most insurance companies have a rule that you can have 1 <10 mph citation w/o it affecting the rates. But the record of it will still be there, and it means you are giving up your 1 "free pass" for the next 3 years (5, really).

Lawyer can probably get it either tossed completely or changed to Improper Equipment which has no points. The question is, which costs you more, the lawyer or the ticket after this one :burnout:

man i just got popped with 11 over and illegal tint...... i recieved 27 letters from lawyers just pick the best deal and mail it back to them!! Several even came w an addressed envelope!!!!

Yup, you will receive numerous letters from lawyers within 7 days after getting the ticket. Pick the best one.

Yep... that's how we find out each time my step-daughter gets pulled. She never admits to them, but you can't hide the letters.

I agree about the letters... Wife accidently threw them away this weekend... Thats why I was asking for referrals :)

PJC? Is that a prayer of judgement (or something close to that)?

OK. For the 3rd or fourth time, this is how it works. You get TWO insurance point free tickets in 3 years. The first one, if it's 9 over, pay the fine and move on with your life. There is nothing a lawyer can do to help you avoid INSURANCE points because there aren't any. It's a waste of money to use a lawyer for this. ESPECIALLY since it's only 9 over. (Wanna know what the lawyer does when he gets to court? He goes and gets all the tickets for all his clients that day and goes up to the DA and they reduce ALL of them to 9 over. (It takes him about 5 minutes and he makes $100-150 PER TICKET.) A 9 over ticket carries with it 1 drivers license point and NO, REPEAT, NO insurance points. (There is a difference))

Now, for the second one in 3 years. Go to court and use a Prayer for Judgement Continuance (PJC). This racks up NO drivers license points and NO insurance points. If you get another one inside of 3 years from THIS date, both tickets show up on your record and your insurance goes up.

Let me put this as plainly as possible here.
USING A LAWYER FOR A 9 OVER TICKET IS A WASTE OF MONEY!!!!!!!!

Pay the fine and court costs (You're going to pay this regardless, it's just worked into the fee the lawyer charges you). In Forsyth county you can pay the fine online so you don't even have to go in and miss work. Your county may be different though.

Legal alternative in high point is who you need she is cheep and can get anyone out of anything she got my wife out of 3 for more then 15 over in the last 6 months

I watched a guy (lawyer) reduce one that was 30 over to 9 over. All he did was give it to the DA and bam, done. The DA was like wow 30 over huh? Lawyer, "Yup" DA, OK 9 over here ya go. I've had the DA tell me "No one cares how fast you were going" All they want is your court costs. (Which you're going to pay any way you look at it. It's just whether or not you are going to waste extra dough for a lawyer.

if you dont want to do it online......

and cant get off work.....

send a proxy. someone can go in your place. you dont even have to be the one who shows up.
