You can put V6 gears in a 4cyl case which helps out. All you have to do is change one pinion bearing.
If you're really concerned with the rear in strength I have a rear end I had built for my cruiser. It runs 79-85 pickup axle shafts with a FJ 40 third. It's a solid setup.

Also, you can get that FJ-40 front axle and put your minitruck hardware on it. Everything from the knuckle out will bolt on. The minitruck shafts also fit. You just need to get an FJ-40 locker and your on it. For the rear, you can use your minitruck shafts, brakes, etc.. and put them on a centered FJ-40 rear axle. Then lock it and your going.

I ran that set up on a heavy 4-runner for several years. V-8 with 39.5" iroks. I had 30 spline longs in the front axle and never had any trouble. Rear axle broke an axle shaft once and a pinion once. I was running the coarse spline pinion when it broke.
