winch bumper

I am looking into building a winch bumper for my toyota. what kind of tubing is recommended for doing this? any ideas on bumper design? any reviews on the smittybilt xrc 8? also what is the difference between the xrc 8 and xrc8 comp. ?

XRC8 Vs. XRC8comp
Comp has synthetic line and aluminum hawse fairlead.

I just picked up a XRC10Comp for $65 more than the 8.

XRC Comp will be the winch I purchase.

As far as metal, It all depends on the use, The winch will have a requirement of thickness for the mounting plate. I used 1/4 plate for mine and 1.75 HREW Tubing. But thats what worked for me.
