Winch Help

Ive got a Smitybilt XRC 8k that Ive had for 2 years and the motor has finally died. Does anybody know of a Better than OEM bolt in replacement that would work. I know Smitybilt used parts from several winch companies but I dont know who makes what. Id also like to get rid of the perm mag motor and get a wound motor instead. Any and all help is appreciated....

I would contact DB elelctric in Tn. They can fix yours or possibly have one to replace it with.

On another note, you may want to find out why it failed. In my experience two things kills a DC motor, one, lack of power, and two getting it too hot.

Prob a combo of both, I had to use it to get out of my drive this winter and had to do some hard long pulls(18" snow and Really steep drive). I have a dual battery setup now and Im wanting to replace it with a series wound to deal with the overheat issue.
