Winch Motor Struggling

Fellas,

I have a winch motor on my pop up camper that lifts the whole thing up. It is currently struggling and barely raises the roof. I do believe that the motor itself is the issue. It is a brushed motor and is nasty.

Is there anything that I can do that will get some life back into it? Is pulling it apart and cleaning it a good idea?

For reference it is a 12v motor

Start with making sure connections are clean and no power drop. Then just replace it.
