Winch mounting question

My dad @moldman05 buggy has a warn 9.0rc winch.

It's mounted to a horizontal plate that matches the instructions and direction of pull is 90 degrees to that plate, out the front.

Can I rotate the entire winch 90 degrees, so that the mounting plate is now vertical, yet the direction of pull is still toward the front.

The bolts and mounting would be towards the front also.

I know I would need to keep the fair lead tangent to the spool, so the rope is aligned correctly.

I've searched a bunch and can't find anything specific that applies to this and don't want to screw up that winch.

In my mind it's a non issue and should be fine, but wanted to hear what nc4x4 says.

Thanks in advance.

If you go to the product page for that winch on the manuals tab:

Warn Industries - Jeep, Truck & SUV Winches: WARN 9.0Rc

And open the Premium Install Guide pdf

https://www.warn.com/manuals/assets/pdf/98975_A0_Premium Install Guide.pdf

I think the first page has the answer to your question, and shows both mounting positions that I think you're referring to. I'm not sure if that's what you're asking.

Yep that's it thanks man.

I missed that manual.

That pic shows exactly what I was asking.
