So I'm at work on 3rd shift and started thinking... I like to fab new things every now and again so I came up with a winch opperated tire carrier for a flatbed. I am going to start a build thread soon on this.... And yes its for all of us lazy people.... I will post a pic of my flatbed when I get home from work showing you what I am working with. I thought I would mount the carrier inside of course but mount the acuall bracket to the side rail on the inside that way when I hit the winch it would lift over the side... But I need more ideas on everything about this project so let's here them.....

This is the flatbed that i was talking about above.....it goes on my 81 yota.

Not when your spare is like mine - 49" irok on 20" steel rim - 270lbs.

I'll be watching this thread......

Stewart

I am interested to see how he goes about this, But I don't think he is running a tire of that size or failed to state that.

I have these Ideas also, I start thinking of odd ways of doing things, and about 1 out of 10 actually work, or after I start planing it out it, I realize it wasn't turning out like I saw it in my head. But hell thats how we come up with new stuff, Just gotta try it.

Seems like a lot of work for little gain.

I dont think it would take alot of work just a little time and money which i dont have. But i like trying new things and i am going to start it within the next 2 weeks after i do some studying. And the tire size will be 38".

I could either fab a tire carrier in whole or maybe by a jeep tire carrier and fab off that....? brackets... shouldnt be no trouble, hopefully not. Winch....? i figure a small ATV or little bigger winch might work like a 2000-5000 winch should work perfectly.... Routing the cable from the winch might be a little trouble. Thats the main thing im concerned about, so whats your opinion.....?

Ever heard of pulleys? Run it how ever you need. I'm only using a 2500lb winch on my car trailer so I don't see why it wouldn't be fine for your application.

Man did I screw up! I carried a really good plug kit and some of those inner plugs (u pull them from the inside out) and a industrial inner tube that matched my boggers. This all fit in a ammo can!

na, never heard of pulley's jr, can you help me out and explain what i would ever USE them for....? By the way, ALVIN AT WORK said he needs you under his desk asap.... lol jus j/k'n. By the way, they said you didnt qualify for that 5% RAISE....

Im going to use a pulley system of course but i dont wont them showing that bad on my set-up, still trying to work that out...

Bring your stuff on over and we'll figure something out. Before work/after work. I've got a bunch of pulleys and shit out of dad's chicken houses we could mess around with. You could hide everything under the bed.
