WINCH PROBLEMS

Are the relays clicking?

It's either a dirty contact on the plug, a pin pushed back, or a relay problem. Use a multimeter to see if your request is putting voltage to the relays.. then you can go from there.

Check your winch with a different remote, the switch could be bad on the remote.

Doing the check I mentioned would identify that ;)

Yes and no, but you know that.
It would confirm that voltage wasnt getting there but not whether the problem was in the remote or in an internal connection.

Quick dirty way to eliminate reomte is a nice piece of #12 solid as a jumper on the remote plug in pins...

Winches are pretty basic in their operation.

Not sure where Bishopsville is, though I should I know I have been there. But if you are close Ill be glad to help you look at it if needed.

Don't mean to hi-jack but what about just being SLOW? Its basically new(m8000), has less than 10 pulls on it. I've heard it clicking before and had no clue what that was. Any ideahs?

I have the same winch and i was running dual optimas and my battery isolater went bad and stopped charging my winching battery, and it with the low voltage goin to it, it wouldnt pull much of anything. Maybe you just have some kind of battery problem??

I doubt it but I'm not sure, I put the red top and the winch on at the same time-new.

But I got 3 red tops now in the shop one new 2 little older.
Cant get them to keep 12v or more.
Charge it to 12.5v and in a few days it is at 11.88 or so.
Still will start the rig but can never get it up past 12.8 then it drops off.
Before you say anything, it has nothing to do with the rig. NOT A THING. not the charger, I now have 5 to make sure it was not the charger.
I have had them look at the battery and the others and everyone was stumped. then we tested a few new ones to find that they only go to 12.2 to 12.3 new, but the Lead acid cheep ones and high ones are at 12.8 to 13V
Why???
after a week its at 11.2 will start the truck slow but does it.
Before you say the truck it draining it, Dont... I have removed them for testing reasons after use... I say its bad battery but at 12v it will test fine around 800 amps or so.
Tried playing with the winch to see if the battery would run it in and out, it would but slower then using a lead acid that was at 12.5 plus, more amps... it would just sound like it was draging a little. also it was not under load but you could see and hear the difference.
Try your slow winch on a lead acid to see if there is a difference.

My xd9000i is doing the same thing, no power out. I can hear the relay clicking, so I'm assuming it's bad? Any ideas which relay it is, and how do I get it out to replace it?
