Looking at getting some new straps after having the nice experience of my 2 inch one breaking the other day. Anyone know a good place to get some good larger ones with out costing a arm and a leg. Looking for something that will hold up to using it with warn 12000 lb winch or can be used as just recovery strap by itself. Looking for 2 so that I can use one to anchor the truck to something else if I need.

I got mine at Tractor supply, most farm equipment or "good-ol boys" hardware store type places have them.
For for a nice wide 4", I can't remember the wieght rating but it's well up there.
Being so wide, it can also double as a tree saver strap in a pinch

There's a place in Bristol called Genos, he makes the straps right there for you. Everyone says that you can't beat his prices. You can go to the vendor section on 4x4grace.com for more info.

Thanks Ill have to check there I checked northern tool but they were pretty proud of theres. I thought the one I had was suffient at 20,000lbs but I guess I under estimated the winch plus after doing some research these straps are rated at there breaking force not a there working load.

I got my 3" straps at Agri Supply, similar to tractor supply, and have yet to break one of them. I haven't needed to replace one since I bought these so I don't know how they compare in price but they seem reasonable to me since I know what they can take.

There heavy duty 2" is what broke but it was a great strap just not up to the stress of a 12000lb winch pulling on it at full load. I'll prob just get 2 of there 3" for normal use or to anchor truck if I need to and then just find one good 4 inch for the winch end.

got one at tractor supply...finally broke it pulling down a house.

Did you investigate why it broke? It's pretty unusual for a decent strap to just break.
E.g., was it worn w/ any tears or anything? Unf it only takes the right kind of tear getting started and it will fall apart very quickly.

there is a place off of Graham st. in charlotte that will make any length you want for a real good price. They also have winch cable there by the foot and will put any end on it you want. I can't think of the name, but its probably a 1/4 mile off I85, back in that little buisness park. I know you are not near charlotte, but thought maybe some of the local guys might want to know about it.

The last thing i bought from them was a 3/8" aircraft cable for my winch. 100' long with a loop on the end big enough for a d ring and it was only about 35.00

99ncxj....you thinking about Ashley Sling Inc?
We deal with them for lift supplies at work....pretty good from what I've heard/seen
704-347-0071....they're pretty good with technical support over the phone too

That place is called Ashley Sling. You're the one the told me about it a while ago, and yes they do have great prices on straps and winch line. I'll never pay full price on winch cable again for how cheap I can replace it from there.

Funny side story. I wrote down their # and the name Ashley Sling on a piece of paper. I left said paper on the table at home. The wife jumped me on it and made me prove who "Ashley" was.LOL

Woops. I didn't read ahead. Yes, it's Ashley Sling he's talking about.

Wasn't alot of need to invesitgate I knew why. We were using the winch to try to pull a large oak that had been cut off at the ground and got caught in the top of another tree down before it fell on something or someone got hurt around it. It was being used beyond its beyond its designed capacity. I'll have to say it put up a good fight. Using it to anchoring a warn M12,000 to the tree was strong enough to slide 2500 4X4 diesel on 35 m/ts and a 45 hp 4x4 tractor. Once it was pulled into the first time you are right the strap had no strength left in the rest of it. You can look at the parts where it failed and tell it was just pulled beyond its capacity by how stretched the fibers were.
