Winch rope decision

So Im goin to get this MM E9000 from my buddy thats comin off of his tj. Im getting it for like $200 and it also comes with the roller fairlead.
Imma try to describe what my use is goin to be primarly before anyone starts posting here.
Mostly the use is just gonna be for recovery from mud, or helping to recover other people. Im not a rock crawler or anything like that, so what is yalls opinion on Wire vs. Synthetic rope?
I know synthetic is usually like 3-4 times the price but is it really worth it in anyones opinion from use?
