Just wandering what should be the smallest size winch I should consider putting on a Bronco II? Newbie here, just don't know.

Wouldnt go any less than 8000lbs. Just think, it may not always be your rig that you are winching.

The Smittybilt 8k pulls my Explorer around fine. Would work great on your Bronco 2. I would definitely recommend one. There warranty is great also if anything ever happens to it.

Remember too that line pull is rated at the last row of line on the drum. If you only pull off 15' or so, you are not near that last row. The drum is effectively larger and you will have less weight capacity. You can get as technical as you want when it comes to this. It is like a shop. Get as big as you can afford, but it will never be big enough.

I ran a 9000 lb on mine 87 B2 and did bog it down. it was all properly wired and such, a snatch block was handy. no lower than 8000 and no junk, you'll just be throwing away money. 1.5 times the weight like they said. Remember your rarely just pulling rolling resistance. When you usually need the line your in a world of shit and really don't need anything like the winch being the week link.
