I think this one is unanamous. Unless you're wheeling a Beast then you may consider more ton-age. A good long healthy line (95 Ft.+) along with a winch block to double the power with a variaty of nylons will get you out of any situation. I was half way submerged in a sand trap alongside a creek once and the doubling block was a must to get me out with a 8,000# winch but still adequate. Definately invest in a cheap block pulley!
Warn is a tad overrated with their prices but still ahead of the game from what I've experienced. I've burnt up 2 Ramsey Rep 8,000's and declare them absolute crap. My warn 8,000 has gotten too hot to touch a FEW times and I just let it cool off before going back at it but still alive and paying for itself. I'd be interested if someone gave the ultimate test to see what other winches withstand a Warn with cheaper cost.
