OK I know this sounds like a crazy question, but here goes.
My BIL just got an Amsteel blue winch line, 5/16, came with a thimble on the end. Also bought a shackle, but the pin is too big to fit through the thimble hole.
Is there any way for me to know what the inner diameter of that thimble is?

OK should have been clearer.
I do not have the thimble in hand, he does not have quick access to it at the moment. Yes obviously if I did I would just measure it, duh.

The Viking Safety Thimble© is designed to be used with 3/4" shackles. They fit through the eye of the thimble in either direction. They can also be used with 7/8" shackles but only the pin can be put through

Must be like the pictured "safety thimble". My new wire cable has a 7/8 hole thimble, & where I purchased my "clamp hook", the guy gave me an extra thimble, with a 1" hole.

Got to measure it, only way to know... unless you know who made it. Ask them.
