Good or bad ??? Yes or no. What’s the general consensus on these Warns from China. He says it’s 2 years old. It’s either one of these or an older one for more money

Warn winch

Yeah I was gonna try an save some pennies by getting a nice used one. Seems like the going rate for these Warns is 4-5 if not more used

I’ll prolly get flogged for this... has anyone had any dealings with the Smittybuilt ones... the Xrc an X20 don’t look bad at all

I have one, and think for the price they are a good deal. I have only used mine a few times, but I have never had an issue with it.

I've got a Smitty 10k that has always been there for me. It was wired for in cab controls. It stopped working on me in the fall but I didn't have the remote and kept moving it around with a bunch of wires. I'm fairly confident it's just in my wires.

PM me if you are interested as I have replaced it with a used Warn.

I put an X20 10K on my XJ a couple years ago. I had an old M8K that I put a motor on twice. First was a cheap ebay china one. Then I sent it to Clemson 4WD for a rebuild. After $300 it had a new motor and worked great for a couple years. I decided to try the new Smittybuilt one instead of rebuilding the warn. So far so good. I'll buy another new SMittybuilt before I pay so much more for a Warn as of right now.

Cheap winches to me have always been like Habor Freight tools...they work, until they don’t...whether that’s on the first use or 1000th use, who knows...but overall, accomplish the same task. Buy SnapOn/Warn, they have some failures, but you’re buying peace of mind, that you’ll be closer to the 1000th use before any issues.

I’d love to have a made in USA one there just so high. Ramsey is worse than Warn. So I guess it will be the better of the Chinese ones. Between Engo, Smittybuilt an Warns Chinese models sure is a toss up

Personally, I haven't heard any complaints on the Smittybuilt. If I needed another winch, Smitty would probably be it, for the money. That being said, I'm still running a Husky/Superwinch 8500, that's pushing 40 years old. On my 3rd steel cable, & may have changed 1 solenoid, years ago. Original motor! Nobody builds them like that anymore! And Superwinch dropped the Huskey, years ago.

If you are going to be using it alot for work, or have to pull cable every weekend while wheeling, I would personally buy a higher end warn.
If its occasionally used, like mine is, I honestly believe the smittybilt ones are just as good as the cheap warns. Just my opinion though....

Man that’s one sharp looking Golden Eagle you have there. I think Northern Tool still sells Superwinch but I doubt there U.S.A. ones. An yes it will just be occasional use on this thing. More like a Just in Case thing. That’s why it’s hard for me to lay down a lot of money for one

I have a superwinch on the trailer as well as on the mini buggy. I’ve been impressed with both for the $. Build quality on both seemed good and no issues from either winch in several years.

I had a Warn VR, it only took a few pulls before it was junk, and as time went on, it got worse. The Smittybuilt on my rig now is over 2 years old, if not three, has had many pulls on it, with no issues. Not near as fast as the higher end Warn winches, but, it's always recovered everyone, including me, that it was called on to recover.

The last 2 I have had where both short drum warns and they are super nice but also super expensive I have had Smitty built before and it crapped out on me but the old harbor freight badlands is still going strong if I was going cheap it would be badlands for sure for the money 249$ ftw

I’ve heard that there winch’s are good... but it’s very very hard for me to drop 249 at Harbor Freight on a winch when last week I bought 3 bar clamps for 9each an 2 of them twisted like a pretzel

And it’s a Smitty for the win...I know that these places like 4 wheel online sell a lot of stuff. But I called 3 different ones that sell a variety of brands and all 3 said the same thing. The warn Vs was last on there list. All said Smitty was what they sell the most an have the least returns on. So it’s a Smitty for the win... went up from 8k to a 10k with the synthetic rope... thanks for the help guys

And I've only seen you use it ONCE o_O So.....it's not like it gets tested

I've pulled down more trees, & pulled up more stumps, than I have vehicles! But it ran for hours, on the Famous Windrock All-nighter! Probably ran bacards, more than frontards! That's where the winch brake, gave up!
