My Dodge failed inspection yesterday due to window tint registering 18%. Apparently it has to be no lower than 32% I think he said. The tint was on the windows when I bought the truck about 5-6 yrs ago, and has passed inspection every year. The guy said the state has started cracking down on window tinting as well as other things during the past 6 months. He said they got fined for passing a vehicle with illegal tint. Anyone else had this trouble?

Once. I removed the Windows and took it back to b inspected then re-installed them. The law says they can't b dark, doesn't say u have to have windows!

everything yall have mention is true. We are one of the few states that make a big deal of it. in florida your tint can be black as night. The biggest thing is if you did get pulled over all you have to say is you got the tint after the inspection. obviously you have not had a problem over the past 5-6 years.

X2 on not requiring windows. Roll them down and remove handle, or unplug switch. I do it on 3 vehicles every year. Not a big deal.

Just telling what works for me. I usually go to familiar places. If you got a ticket for that, you were pointed out.

Get a wrangler and just take the doors off for inspection, It's worked for me for the last 10 years.

Unless the rules changed, you have to take it back to the person that failed you after you fix the problem, right?

I left the inspection station, and went to a shop across the street that does window tinting. I asked them to remove it so I could get it inspected right then (was on my lunch hour). He tried to get it off just, just outside in the parking lot, but it was not coming off easily since it had been on there so long. He said he was going to need to pull it in the shop and use a heat gun and that it might take a while. I thanked him for trying, and went back to work. I've got a heat gun at home, so I guess I'll just try and take it off.

If you take it somewhere else and they pass it it will flag it to be investaged. I have had several shops get poped for this in the past few months....

yeah i got $250 fine and the guy i passed it for got a $500 fine so its not worth it. and if it gets to the point of the dmv going all out. they can take the inspectors drivers license. the tickets are wrote as traffic violations, and you have to have a drivers license to do inpections.

Spray it. http://www.google.com/search?q=tint....,cf.osb&fp=3e4622a4ac822421&biw=1680&bih=869

They sell some tint removal spray at local auto parts stores. Something similar to the link above. Spray it on and let it sit for 20-30 minutes and it'll dissolve the adhesive. Works wonders.

In all actuality the only way is to let it warm up, pull the tint in the biggest sheet you can and head at it with a razor blade or flat scraper
