anyone every bought the precut tint and installed it yourself? I was thinking about trying it if anyone has done it and had good or bad results let me know. Also if anyone knows of someone in the thomasville high point winston area that does it let me know also.

Thanks

I bought some off ebay for my XJ with in a month or so it turned purple. I ended up taking it off and getting done professionally.

I had the same results as the others...puple and bubbled. I have a guy here that does my stuff and I've sent alot of guys his way, and I've yet to hear a negative comment, and even my old stuff (on for 5 years) still looks good. Probably a little farther than you want to travel for tint, but the name of the place is Harwood Signs.

I used to put limo tint from autozone on all the time. I never had it bubble or turn purple. The lower the %, the darker and thicker it'll be, and the easier you can work with it without it creasing.

If you put windex and other cleaners with alcohol in them on any tint it'll turn it purple.

Warm water with a mild soap in it cleans them great.

Now though, no more than the couple hundred it costs to have all the windows tinted, I just pay the man to do it. The guy I used last time ran one of those "we'll come to you" services. I've been satisfied, it's been 2 years for both of our vehicles and no problems.

Just keep in mind the laws for % darkness etc. Don't want to go pissing off Johnny Law.

I use the guy in Clemmons, Scott is very good and reasonable. He's been doing tinting for 25 years. He has done two of mine with a Ceramic tint that I'm extremely happy with. 336-778-1101 tell him Terry sent you. Scott has to be good, this is all he does!

there is a guy in high point i have used for my cars and he always does good work and has good prices. i think its called "shine in the shade" he's on west green dr. (fairfield), right before you get to market center. the law is 35% incase you wanted to know.

Scott did a truck for me 2 weeks ago and did a great job, and fast.

thanks will give him a call tomorrow does he come to you or do you go to him?

NC tint law is 35%, if you didn't know. I had 20% put on my truck way back when and haven't had any trouble. The hardest part is getting it inspected. :secret:

I think he tinted my windshield 18inches from the top in 95% (limo) but the windshield is 54inches tall!

We use this guy for cars in the shop, he does great work with fast turnaround.

I have had tint on all my vehicles and have never had a problem with inspection. I would say shop around and find a good quality shop to install it. I have found some shops still don't know how to install it properly. The shops they know what they are doing can install it and you'll think it is factory even when you roll the window down because they do it now with no lines. If the shop knows what they are doing you should get edge to edge coverage and not see where the tinting starts.
