window unit AC recommendations

Picked up a 14,000 BTU GE window unit from Lowe’s a couple months ago to cool an insulated attic room and I’m about to take it back (for the second time). Seems to work decent for about half the day but once the sun gets to the side of the house it’s on, it doesn’t want to keep cooling. Compressor will kick on and it cools for about 5 seconds and then it cuts off. Filter and the coils are both clean. At least it has WiFi so I can look on my phone and see that it’s not cooling

My grannys got a couple 150 year old units that run 24/7 with no issues. Anybody got a recommendation for a good one?

We have a 14k inverter LG we have used a lot at different times and it has been perfect and cools incredibly well while pulling much less current and being much more quiet than traditional units.

At our old house when the power would go out like during hurricanes, I would stab it in the window and run it with our generator. It kept a good part of the house very comfortable.

It has never missed a beat.

Went with the 14k LG inverter unit as well. Won’t be a true apples to apples comparison since I switched it to a window on the opposite end that doesn’t get the afternoon sun. I will say it cooled down pretty quickly up there during the heat of the day when the other one could never keep up..🤞

Great! There’s an app to control it with your phone as well if it’s like mine.

So far that’s the only thing about the GE that was better than this one. App doesn’t want to work on my phone at all.
You’ve connected the AC to your wifi?
