Windows effing 10

My pc after many atempts to block Windows 10 decided to auto update over a weekend I'm not around. So after painfully figuring out why the crap it want get up and running my internet access isn't working.
We first actually disconnected a wireless router just to get the thing to come up right.
Now no matter what I enable or disable or reset it shows the routers existence and software but refused to connect or see it in trouble shooting.
The internal hardware for wireless connection took a shit early this year so this netgear device has been my external bandaid and working fine til my computer in my opinion got illeagally hacked by Microsoft. And help in NC land?
 
I'm of no help, but actually yesterday I "woke up" my laptop for work (Lenovo) and found it had updated to Windows 10 as well. I was very disappointed, I'd been putting it off and saying no for a long time, then it just done it itself.
I wasn't even good with Windows 8, now I gotta figure out 10?!?!

Can't help either but will say I let the kids laptop upgrade to 10 and find it easier to use.
That being said, automatic upgrades really piss me off.
 
Haven't used windows 10 yet, but several people at work have said they actually like it compared to vista/7/8 and its more XP like. That would be a win in my book, because there was nothing wrong with XP, and I run my Win7 work PC as XP like as possible.
 
Did you have a VPN installed? I've heard many cases of people saying the VPN screwed up the network drivers during 10 upgrade, and I think I saw that Microsoft was recommending uninstalling any VPN before upgrading.
 
I haven't used mine but a moment to see if I like it. Just hate that it did it on its own.
I did love XP so if it's more like that then I will like it.

I have heard the same. We are still running 7 here at the lab and will eventually jump right to 10.
We still use XP in some of the old PCs that are just in the lab and not on network, b/c it is so much better access to device-level control.
Upgraded my sons from 8 to 10 and I must say it is much smoother.

But I'm still pissed at the auto-change thing w/o people's consent. Especially since there are critical differences between the base and pro versions in how manageable the privacy settings are
 
I'm Learning more here, + have some info. I learned what I've been able to, on 7. So when the pop-ups keep bothering me, I asked my repair guy, about 10. He said it's Fine, & 7 is SO Old!
My choice. Well, I got tired of the pop ups, & tried Twice to get 10 to download. It's So Smart, it wouldn't! So, I forgot it. Then a week later, I'm scrolling the Forum, & my PC takes off on it's own, & downloads 10. Took it about an hour. Afterwards, I had a new mess! I've Still figured out very Little about 10. My Printer went bezerk, until I downloaded the windows 10 to printer driver. My printer works now, but still not set right, & I'm at a loss. Talked again to my repairman, about switching back to 7. He said I can, IF, it hasn't been over 30 days. After I checked the change, it had been 31 days, so No freebe there! Repairman Also said I Had to have hit something to Trigger the download, as They Don't just work by themselves. So, I see He's Wrong! I Also can't download any new pictures, guess I need some Driver? 10, does a Lot of things I find Aggravating, & taking more Steps or key strokes, than 7 did. It changed the Look & function of my Mail, for whatever reason! I Despise it, & first chance, will Pay, to get it back to 7.
My brain is Mechanical, Not Technical.:confused:
 
So I have an amazing wife who spent 143 minutes on the phone with some body who barely spoke good engrish to fix my pc. Seems the assholes at mircrojunk think their shit is so great forcing on people is just fine. But the greatness fails to run older hardware. Long story short no drivers would run, I could not log on to get them. So she used her Mac to get the info I needed to load on my HP so I could log on and get the other needed fixes. To the cost of 50 bucs and much needed time to do other stuff.
 
Ever since my update I can't use my second screen. I have another monitor that plugs into USB. I use a wireless mouse and keyboard and love having the second screen but it hasn't worked since the update!

Might be like my prefered email accounts. Literally you have to go to each setting or piece of hardware and select or sync it to work. Its so Damn overburdened with gadgets and wizbang shit nothings simple plug and play unless you go through it's bell's and whistles design parameters. It's simple made made into flaming hoops and irritating rashes.
My gmail refused to load properly until litterally walking the setting through to say hey dammit this is what I prefer and want to use.
 
Mine tried ... fortunately I was there and was able to stop it.
There is a way to undo it, but I think it must be done in 30 days.

If you are still dodging Win 10, Never10 is a good program to stop it and get the reminder crap off your PC.
The odds are, the files are already on your puter .... better do something now or it will get you. Never10 will remove all win 10 files also.

I new I should have been vacinated, now I got this itch......to throw it out the window.
I came home to mine half ass working because of my lovely wife.
I asked her why she made the effort? Without batting an eye she missed a certain wooden chair and something about a coffe cup that ended up on the roof for over 6 months......long story.
