windows login problems

cant login to my laptop....it appears that either i have forgotten my password or the machine finally got mad at me and is exacting its revenge

every way that i attempt to start the machine (safe mode, debug mode, network maintainence, etc, etc.) requires a user and password login

there is no option for admin login

to make matters worse, the cd drive is not really working

ideas?

i think it would boot in DOS....but i need an explanation of how this would help.

this is provided you're talking about the admin password and you've got either 2k or xp.

x2 That is perhaps the greatest password reset tool ever. If you use it blank out the password instead of trying to change it.

You can also try the admin account by hitting Ctrl+Alt+Del twice.
