I'm heading out there late September with a buddy of mine (he is in Nashville) who I used to wheel with almost weekly out in CO and Moab. We like to challenge the rigs, so I was hoping people could throw out some suggestions on what trails we should hit on an all day Saturday and half day Sunday wheeling trip (arriving Friday night).

His rig is a TJ on 35" MTRs with kevlar, belly up, rear ox locker and a front LSD.

Mine is a TJ on 37" pitbull rockers with front and rear ARBs.

I've driven Daniel (URE) 6 or 7 times now and have played around at DPG. I'm hoping for some challenges, fun, and scenery would be cool too.

So what trails would you guys suggest?

Well. I got out my map and was going to tell you the trails that were great for you...problem is, it's been 3 years since I was there, and I now realize...I dont remember squat about the place...as far as trail numbers go anyway.

I do remember that there were a few trails I wished I had not tried, due to their super steepness. There was one trail, that you could easily die on, but I think it's closed now.

Also...You can go to the very top and check out the windmills. Very scenic. The windmills are very very large.

Sorry I cant be of any more help...I gotta get back out there!

URE does not compare....at all.

Was just there several months ago. I'll post a link to a video from our trip below. Some footage of Rattle Rock (which will be a very difficult trail for you two...have a winch and plan on all day) I'm on 37s and it kicked my ass. Little Rattle Rock (just to left of the actual rattle rock (looking up the hill) trail is probably a better fit for you two.

You will not have trouble finding additional trails to challenge your rig. Trail 39 (IIRC) we ran and is a bit long and not real challenging for the first few miles, but toward the end you'll wish you had more than 35s and 37s. Its the part of the video showing some buggys/truggys we met up with at the end of the video.

Trail 3 & 15 (again, IIRC) are other trails you'll have fun on, but will not take all day and will challenge you a little.

I went there in June and had a blast. Unfortunately I'm always looking for the hardest stuff and don't really know the middle ground up there.

Stay away from Rail Trail, Cadillac Hill and Rattle Rock. The last thing you want to do is end the day early. I do suggest Little Mule and parts of 16.

Are these like buggy trails? What would be needed to run these?

I do suggest Little Mule and parts of 16.

Are these pretty easy to find? Challenging to run?

I am doing as much reading and youtube watching as I can to familiarize myself with the area, but there is only so much you can learn about a place on the internet.

We were there in June also... appears they've dozed the @#$%! ledge on Little Mule, but rock pile was about the same. The far left route of #15 (right off the blacktop) has become pretty rude too!

you need a guide. the first few times we went, we got lost. I suggest buying a map at the snack bar.

those trails are the toughest out there. Atomic ridge is no joke either

Double ditto! Without a map (likely even with a map), you can get lost for days! If you'll post on Atomic City 4WD forums, you'll likely find a guide or ride...

Right now we are thinking the weekend of Sept 26th. I'm working to make it official, but that is what we are hoping for.

It would be great to tag along another group wheeling!

Take a downhill mountain bike for when you break your rig. They have some of the baddest DH bike trails trails on the East coast.
