Need to be in Nashville, TN by 8am Tuesday. Leaving Johnston County tomorrow morning around 9 after we both get home from work. Ideally we make it to our hotel room tomorrow night at a decent hour. How is 40? Other route options? 77 to 81 isn't out of the question, but also considering going south where it was more rain than snow.

I have a niece that goes to school in Cookeville and she went back this morning, said roads were clear from here, exit 23 on int 81,to the 40/81 split,on to Cookeville.Back roads are clear and we have maybe an inch on the ground.Schools here are open tomorrow as of 5 mins ago.Havent heard anything about 40 in to TN from Asheville,I'd imagine its rough.

I am a few miles up the road from 1 ton. 81 from exit 50, Fall Branch was clear all the way into Kingsport. The majority of the main side roads are cleared now. Schools are out for tomorrow though in Sullivan and Washington counties.

If something happens and you need to stop around the Kingsport area send me a note and I will send you my phone number.

Wytheville section of 81 is getting worked on now by subs instead of vdot from what I’ve heard and last I heard natl guard had shut down 77 somewhere I’ve not been home to look into it tho this is info my codawg told me few hours ago I got on 81 it’s a damn mess at 114 to 105 cars everywhere from exit 98-143 tho

From what I’ve seen primaries are just fine, secondaries are iffy. I’ve been driving around everywhere in either a fwd MKZ or fwd Edge.

501 in Bahama. Nice easy cruise into the office.

I40 In WNC is clear. Once you get past the Tn state line the snow totals will be near nothing.
We got about two inches here.I had a DR app in Kingsport at 10 this morning and I-81 was clear even thought they got 6/8 inches of snow.A buddy of mine is a trucker and posted a video of Hwy 321 at 5ish this a.m and it was covered.

I would have bet $100 it was a Prius...

Funny you mention that. Last week I drove up to MA to see the family. I lost count of how many times a Prius was in the passing lane running below or at the posted speed limit. It didn’t matter if we were driving north or south. Flash the lights at them, ride their ass, it didn’t matter. They were clueless. Pass them on the inside and they were just staring straight ahead with their hands at 10 & 2. It got to the point that when we’d run up on one, my wife (who is normallly very mellow) would yell out, “WTF, another f’ing Prius?”

Maybe they're purposely hogging the fast lane to force all the non Prius driving gas guzzlers behind them to slow down and conserve? or just doing their part to help stop global warming, or climate change, or whatever the new definition of the day for this BS.
