Winters Shifter questions

I has one, my black truck, made a base underneath it, like it decent. It's a Chrysler 3-speed forward pattern unit with reverse lockout 'disc'. For a street driven vehicle, it's pretty good, although I'm not a fan of the cable routing - cable is on opposite side of fulcrum, which means on the Chrysler transmissions if the cable comes out the front of the mount, it has to attach to the transmission facing back to front. This meant I had to make an S-bend in the cable underneath the cab... I've ran it since 2011 under normal driving conditions for ~5-8k miles, no wear-tear that I've seen.

Are you going to be using the standard plates or the 'rock crawler' plates? I have the lock-out stock.

700R4 standard plate. I'm going to file one of the gates out so I can go from low to Neutral quickly. I'm going to build a small base for it. I looked at B&M but they seem cheap.

i think you'll find most of the buggies out there run the Art Carr/Winters shifters.

its whats in mine. It shifts the transmission like it is supposed to.
Nothing to terrible about it. Reverse Rock gate an dreverse manual valve body in a th350..

I gave up on the column shift fiasco in my YJ. Ordered a winters shifter for my 700r4 and wanted to see what peoples expiriences were with them. I have to fab a base for the shifter to sit on but that wont be hard.

But then you lose the ability to slap it 1-2 without having to mentally remember to stop at the detent, I'm not a fan.

Problem is you want to make sure you cant go from 3rd to R at speed.
That's the entire reason I went with the RVB

Mine showed up today then vanished...I guess the UPS guy didnt feel like leaving it. Hell I dont blame him with all the little thugs and thuggets that walk through our housing development. Looks like he came right when the buses ran. Cant wait to get this thing installed.
