Wire gauge for old school 8274

Lots of reading and lining up parts for my old school 8274. Seems like 2ga is the way to go for a front mount. Any objections or counter opinions? Some say 4ga… others say 2 or even 0gs?

I used 4ga on mine, it has a newer 6hp motor from a 9.5xp.

Thanks guys! I’ll use the 2ga.

Side note - I’m also installing a HD master switch close to the battery so the winch wiring isn’t live all the time.

Smart and I agree with 2AWG.

Make sure your switch is rated for the load it's going to pull on start up.
