I am putting back up lights on my little trailer. However, I would also like for them to be on a switch so that I can turn them on and off and use them as flood lights when the trailer is parked. My truck has a 7 pin connector so I am assuming one of those is a constant hot. But when the switch is off I would like them to also function as back up lights.

Any easy way to do this?

Run the constant hot into a switch on the trailer then come off the switch and tie it into the backup lights. When the switch is off the lights will be waiting for a hot, either from the vehicle being put into reverse or from the switch being turned on. You can wire it back to the cab of the vehicle if you want the switch inside, but it gets a little more complicated with where to splice the wires and still have it run through your 7 pin connector.

Here's the wiring
