Just look them up no dice. Also check this out it had an external voltage regulator but there is no plug for it I hate I bought this truck. It ran when I bought it just had it looked like house wire going to the alternator
Toyota foolish is a good plac to check. He an odd dude but its kinda fun to check him out. The guy in candler has a bigger inventory, but his prices are a bit more.
Hustle want to say thank you for all your help! I did find a wiring harness at holland auto. They only made it one year. 85 had one that was different.
You can't really "bypass" it. It regulates the field charge inside the alternator. You can swap the alternator for a newer Toyota alternator that is internally regulated which is pretty much everything one or two years newer than your rig. This will require a few wire changes and a matching plug. You could wire in a 10si or 12si GM AC Delco alternator which is a pretty common swap or use a 1 wire self exciting AC Delco setup but that is not the preferred method.
Rather than buying another harness, you may be better off fixing what you have if it's not too bad. Especially if you are going with a newer internally regulated alternator.
Here is the bracket to use a GM alternator which for $29 is a freakin' steal (as long as it doesn't crack since its Trail Gear quality).
No matter what you do, I would get rid of the factory Toyota external regulator. They are very old, hard to find, and questionable at best at this point. I personally from a dollar and performance standpoint since most of what you have is hacked...go with a 12si alternator, buy the bracket, and get a pigtail that plugs into the GM alternator. Wiring it is very straightforward. This will solve all your problems and give you a lot of amps to play with a winch or lights.
