We have a utility room that is off our car port and Tonya has bought her a tanning bed to go in it.The bed is 220 and according to the book is 30 amp. This is a commercial bed and has a commercial style plug in the end of it.

The wall receptacle I’m wanting to use is 220 but has an old stove type outlet in it.

So can I just change the outlet in the wall box to fit the cord or change the end of the cord to match the outlet, or am I over looking something?? I have used this outlet to run my 220 Hobart 185 mig welder w no problems.

Yes, both are standard 240v (2 hots and a ground).

Here‘s the wiring in case the colors are weird.

The cord barely gets to the wall so I think Im gonna make a short ext cord for it and Ill just change the end then. From what googler says I need a 10 gauge wire??

It should be 2 hots and a ground so you have enough conductors, and big enough conductors to make it work. The only thing I haven’t seen anyone else mention, is to downsize the 50a breaker to a 30a breaker. You want your overcurrent protection to not be greater than the receptacle’s ampacity
