I don't recommend you that you split it. Thats a crappy wiring practice. If you go to the electric supply place and get the right end, I can crimp it for you. As a matter of fact if you have not bought the cable, I can give you that, free. but, you will need to come get some of mine and get the right ends. I forget what color (size) it needs. But I have plenty of the cable.
I do recommend something in line from the battery to the new fuse block, I think a circuit breaker or fuse would be fine. You can get the fuses at any audio system place.
