the only thing that "might" be deemed "unintended acceleration" in a Camry is the model in question had a 5spd auto, when cruising at speed and encountering a grade, it would drop from 5th to 3rd, the engine would rev from about 1700rpm to about 3400rpm, ( 70mph in 3rd gear in anything, the RPMs are gonna be up there ) didn't take much for the downshift to happen ( a good exhale would cause a down shift ), and it sounds like the car is going apeshit.
A programing update to the trans shift profile cured it. ( Part of the recall if it hadn't already been done before hand )
I've had an '07 Camry and currently have an '11, both very good vehicles, I was surprised how well the '07 held up when the wife went off roading with it and shorted a culvert, totaled the car, but the structure did it's job.
As for Toyota CEO saying Americans don't know how to drive, most of them don't !! they're too fawking busy reading texts, shaving, putting on makeup, pouring coffee or fawking with the stereo and cell phone !
