Looking at picking up a WJ. AC is working but the heater is not blowing hot. Is this a quick fix or is what. $$$?

Trying to pick this up since my only vehicle that works right now is my zuki bike, so winter might just suck a little if I don't grab something.

Its $ and a PITA. Head over to the WJ section on jeepsunlimited.com or jeepforum.com and search "blend door".

I had to fix the blend door and recirculation door on my wife's Grand Cherokee. I bought the blend door from rolandgendron on ebay, it was a work of art, much better than the factory plastic junk. You end up cutting into the duct to put it in, it's a lot easier than pulling the dash. That was definitely money well spent.

The recirculation door kit was just two bent wire 'tools' and an instruction sheet. You were supposed to pull the broken door up with the pieces of wire, put in two self-tapping screws, and bend a piece of wire around the screw heads to hold the door in the outside position. I tried doing it his way, but ended up reaching in and breaking the door in half so I could get out, and RTV'ing a piece of kydex over thie inside door so it has to pull air from the outside. The recirculation button doesn't do anything, but it beats pulling the dash.

I'd start with the easy stuff first. If you buy it park it in your drive way when the truck is cold, take the radiator cap off start the truck and crank the heat.

While the truck is coming up to temperature look inside the radiator to see if the fluid level drops, you might have an air pocket in there.

If the fluid level does drop top the radiator off with some more antifreeze and see if it stays topped off, if it does check to see if you now have warm air.

If you do not have warm are you might want to try to replace the thermostat.

If that doesn't work another common part on these trucks to go bad is the blower motor resistor.

just a few things to check out right off the bat before you dive in to far.
