im getting a bunch of 1 1/2 1/4 wall weld seam d.o.m, tubing for free and i was wondering if it would be good to use for 4 link bars on my early bronco? any ideas?

Its junk, give it to me! But it should be fine. If it has a visible standing seam, it is HREW (hot rolled electric welded). If you can see the weld line but the seam is almost not noticeable, it is DOM (drawn over mandrel). 1-1/2, 1/4 wall tubing is stout, and while the diameter is a little small for lower links, it will be great for upper links.

thanks for the info. like i said the tubing is free and i was goin by what my friend said he works at the machine shop that has the tubing and he said it was weld seam dom. and i didnt think that was right. but i figured i would ask and see what other people thought. and what would you recommend for the lower links?

1-3/4 or preferably larger for the lowers. But 1-1/2 will work, its just a more likely to bend.

2" .250 wall is a good material for lowers. The 1.5" .250 wall will work if you don't plan in using it hard or playing in the rocks. We use that material for steering components and it bends easier then you think.

pipe is nominal in size. it is referenced by a diameter and a wall thickness known as it Schedule. It allways varies from what its size designation is and can range from many thickness. Its dead give away is it never a whole or half numbers size overall. Its varying ID is relevant to its schedule.

Like these guys said its tubing either way and DOM has no "raised" seem for the reasons Landon gave.

If you want to really split hairs the only thing produced that is round in shape and hollow with no welded seems in its production what so ever is mechanical tubing. And that stuff cost, but without being drawn through a mandrel it isn't work hardened and does not carry the same mechanical properties as DOM.
