Wood Stove Placement

I have a wood stove in my basement that I want to turn towards the wall. It was sitting out perpendicular to the wall and I want it parallel to free up space. My question is if 12" is too close to a block wall? It has a blower, so I don't think it will affect the heating. Pic is how I want it. The small box is the blower housing.

I would put some heat shielding with an air gap, just for piece of mind. I assume that wall is under earth, constantly around 55°. Must consider rapid expansion and shrinking affecting the mortar and blocks.

I used metal roofing against the 2x4/osb insulated walls in my shop. Covers about 5' up, and 8' across. The exposed osb above the metal still gets about 85° with a hot stove.

Yeah, that's along the line of what I was thinking. Is worth the trouble to add something for the extra space I will get.

I would do something similar. The closer you can get it to the stove and away from the wall, the better. Corrugated metal that wraps/directs the heat back to the room, with an air gap between the wall.

Keep the top of the air gap open, it works better when it can vent from behind through natural convection. Air gap will stay cooler and more effective that way.
