Working Wheels - Transforming donated cars into working wheels for working families

Any of you Asheville folks ever heard of these people before?

I've an old daily driver car I've listed and I got an email off Craigslist from them asking if I'd be interested in donating the car.

Basically, they take older vehicles and either fix and provide them for low income folks, or they sell them off to help cover costs of repairs, etc.

I'm very tempted to do it. (If this last interested party falls through.)

Seems a good idea.

I haven't dealt with those guys, but I did give away a car about a year ago. I found entirely too much red tape was involved in donating, possibly because my car was in a fender bender (I actually fixed the damage with JY parts and got the car inspected). Anyway, the point is, I ended up getting a lead through my church, and gave it to a guy with kids. I didn't get any official tax donation benefit out of it, but meh. I was in it for someone that needed it, not a credit on a $1500 vehicle. If you're cool with that, hit up your church, they'll have a laundry list of people in need, and chances are you can vet who actually gets it.

I have heard of a program in Asheville doing this but don’t remember the name or know anything about it
