Ok here the facts first so we all know what we are dealing with. I have a 1989 Jeep Wrangler with a fuel injected 4 cylinder engine with 102k miles on it. The Jeep has been getting work done for the past two years as far as lift, brakes lines and other things not engine related. I recently changed the spark plugs and the old ones came out completely black and "burn out" like. Now when I run the Jeep, it has no power whatsoever like it is drowning in gas or something, it blows black smoke from the exhaust and does not stay on at all. Any suggestions other than take it to the mechanic please.

You are correct in that it is drowning in gas. How old is the gas in it? If more than a year, you need to drain and fill with new. Otherwise you've got a possible fuel pressure problem. Check the vacuum line to the fuel pressure regulator. Located on the end of the fuel rail.

so many potential problems...

poor timing
bad sensor (throttle position, cps, etc.)
Bad injector
bad coil

You either have an excess of gas or a not enough spark,

Hate to say take it to a mechanic, but unless you have the ability to trouble shoot further, Im afraid thats where you are...

Yep, check the gap and just got back from talking to my good friend who owns a shop. We will be working on it this weekend, he said the same thing as SkiHik5. So up to the mechanic it goes...will keep ya'll posted.
