I knew that there was a chinese airline that was known for not being the greatest but I could never remember if it was Air China or China Air.

meh, I've flown air china. Service was better than US carriers and we didn't hit anything. Last time I was at Kennedy sitting on a plane I witnessed a baggage tug with 2 carts attached driving alongside my plane with no driver. Eventually ran into the terminal and sat there spinning until someone happened to notice.
