It's So Restrictive, who would want to go? Here's a short list. There are more!
  • There will be no groups of more than 10 people
  • No lifeguards on duty
  • Sunbathing, sitting, fishing, games and all other activities will not be permitted on the beaches at this time
  • All beach equipment such as towels, chairs, coolers and umbrellas are not allowed on the beaches at this time
  • Dogs are not permitted on the beach
  • Public restrooms will remain closed
  • All parks will remain closed
  • All Town-owned parking lots will remain closed to the general public
  • All public, on-street parking spaces are now closed to the public for any use except where allowed as part of the State of Emergency Declaration.

FIFY.

I was supposed to be on a 10 day trip in Nags Head at the beginning of the month, obviously that didn't happen. The wife keeps telling me 'as soon as it opens, we have to go'. But this kind of thing is what I figured would happen. Probably try to get something booked for September now, but I doubt things will be back to 'normal' until next summer.

We have a house booked for beginning of June, so we'll see how that works out. Fingers crossed, because the rest of my family are coming from VA and aren't likely to disobey the June 10 stay-at-home expiration.

Just don’t pick the same week as me in September and you should be okay with the hurricanes.

I’m not sure how sunbathing in a towel or fishing spreads the virus to the point it’s not allowed.

it’s a step towards full reopening. Which is better. Once the people get tired of not being able to fish or sit on the beach with their family and enjoy it, you are going to have another wave of protests. I see that happening about a week or two before Memorial Day.

I don't get these shut downs and how blindly 'we' followed. It's scary the incredible number of sheep walking around everyday.

Just open up your private business. Why would you look to the government for permission? They have a well documented long history of lying, deceit and incompetence. If people are scared to go, then the market will decide. If you're scared to work, then the owner/market can deal with it. People risk their lives everyday to make money in millions of ways.

I agree with this, it should be up to the individual to decide how comfortable they are with the risk. I can see the government saying put sanitizer at the door and this is what you should do to help protect yourself. If you own an assisted living place or hospital or doctors office etc... we strongly advise these (...) precautions and no visitors but private businesses should choose for themselves as well as the people. Public land shouldn't be closed either, it shouldn't be considered the governments property anyway.

Yes, fine with government offering info, advice, best practices....that MAY be accurate, but shut down a small mom and pop operation....with the promise of $1200 and some unemployment, that comes months too late? Not a good idea at all.
