I've had good luck washing with dawn a few hours after knowing I'd been in contact with poison ivy. I am not as allergic as I used to be though so that might be helping me. Ymmv
 
I can rub poison ivy on me and not bother me the only time i get poison ivy on me is in a cut or scratch. My kids will bring up their friends eat up with it just to get them to rub lacquer thinner on them just watch them cry and whine. I have taught my kids well..
 
As a kid, I used to get the poison ivy real bad. Being a surveyor, I'm in it all the time and rarely break out now. I'll get the occasional spots on my hands and underside of my forearms, but it's nothing I can't deal with. I guess the immunity thing works both ways.
