We are almost finished with the 8.8 swap in my friends 91 XJ, everything is done other than the driveshaft, we can't figure out how to adapt the XJ driveshaft to the 8.8 Yoke . We are working on a limited budget (we can't spend alot), is there a cheap way of doing this. Can we take the explorer driveshaft and take off the yoke and put it on the XJ driveshaft. NEED HELP!!!!!! Any input would be great. Thanks Guys

The explorer drum brake 8.8s use 1310 u-joints. You could find the flange adapter at a junkyard for just a few bucks.

you put the 8.8 flange adapter onto the xj shaft if it's anything like the way the yj guys do it.

there are two different 8.8 flanges. the mustang one is too small the explorer or f150 one is the correct one. if i recall correctly we used the VIN# off my F150 to get the adapter for my buddy..... 1FTEF15Y0PLB20091 double and triple check to make sure that'll work for you though... i don't know much about 8.8's and what flanges fit what, all i know is that vin# led him to the right one... it may be different for you so order using that at your own risk.

don't forget to buy the bolts too. it takes 4 as you can already tell...

The bolts are around $4.00 a piece from the dealer. It's a steep price, but that's what they cost. Also, if the axle has been sitting outside for a while, you may have to chase the threads on the flange with a tap to get the buggers to thread in easily.

flange, spicer p/n 2-2-1379
flange bolts, ford p/n N800594-S100
or the flange bolts can be purchased from any hardware store, 12mm x 1.75 - 12 point

DO AWAY WITH THE FLANGE AND ORDER A MOSER 1310 YOKE,I GOT ONE FOR MY MUSTANG AND IT WAS 92.00 FROM JEGS,THE'RE CHEAPER ONES OUT THERE THOUGH,BUT SINCE MY WHOLE REAR WAS BASICALLY MOSER I GOT THERE BRAND
