XJ AX-15 question

Asking this for a friend of mine.
The deal is as follows.........
1996 xj that will start in gear, cannot find a nss on the tranny or clutch linkage.
His future ex stepson will be dd'ing this xj, so the "start in gear thing" is terrible.

I know in some of the older wranglers there was a fuse you could remove to allow the Jeep to start in gear. Might be as simple as that

I thought that a manual could start in gear but you had to depress the clutch. That should be a switch on the clutch pedal just like the brake light switch but on the clutch.

It should have a clutch safety switch. Looks just like a brake light switch. Lots of times when it goes bad people just jump the wires together to make it start.
